Just over two years ago I started a weight loss journey which has proved to be rather successful, 16.5 stone lost to date, and in January I started to run.

Not one to be satisfied with just plodding round the streets of Woking, I set myself the challenge of completeing the Great South Run. Now the day is nearly here, I'm confident that I can achieve that goal.

I'm running for Cancer Research UK and would like you all to donate if you can. I thought about supporting a charity exclusively for 'man cancers', but soon realised that if cancer doesn't discriminate between the sexes then  I shouldn't either.

So, for all the people I've known who've lost their fight with cancer, for all the people who've battled back, I'm running for you.
