Solo bike ride from John O Groats to Lands End self sufficient

Last year two of my friends who I had the privilege to serve along side in Iraq with the Royal Green Jackets, Kevin Williams and John Paul Finnagan took their own lives due to the battle they were still fighting alone, inside their heads. They were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Im the first to admit I was naive to what it really was however this tragic series of events opened my eyes to what a horrendous and devastating mental health illness this is.It continues to destroy lives and tear apart families on a daily basis.
The John Paul Project was set up in the wake of his death. It aims to improve the emotional wellbeing of veterans and their families by targeted psychological therapies and support programmes. The John Paul project is determined to reduce the number of Veteran deaths by suicide and improve the emotional & psychological well-being of veterans by reducing the levels of social isolation.
To raise awareness for the John Paul Project and PTSD within the Armed Forces, and to remember the two fallen heroes Kevin Williams and John Paul Finnagan on the 13th May I plan on cycling the 970 miles from John O Groats to Lands End self sufficient, carrying all my kit and camping where ever I can find a place to pitch my tent up. The very top of Scotland to the bottom of England. Now if I said I wouldn't be popping into the odd cafe along the way I would be lying. I aim to cycle around 70 to 80 miles a day and with a bit of divine intervention I will complete it in 13 to 14 days.
All the money raised will go to this brilliant, worth while charity, which will undoubtedly change war veterans life who suffer from this mental illness for the best, if not save their lives from the same tragic fate.
