Story
This February I will be spending a night on the cold, hard stones of Durham Cathedral floor.
Why put myself through such hardship, you ask? What cause could be so great as to necessitate so great an act of self-sacrifice? The infliction of such discomfort upon myself?
Many people, through no fault of their own, are forced to sleep rough without the simple benefits of safety, warmth or ready access to food enjoyed by you or me. Through this event, DUCK is seeking to raise money for Foodcycle and Moving On - two charities that work tirelessly to alleviate this situation. I, alongside many other students at Durham, am taking part in this effort.
When it comes down to it, I may just be another money-grubbing, bourgeois yuppee who is only motivated to do some good by the promise of a novel experience. But at least this will benefit the rest of humanity, unlike the evening of looking at pictures of cats on Tickld I would have spent otherwise.
All joking aside, homelessness is awful. Please donate generously.
Thank you :) x
