Sahara Desert Trek for St Wilfrid's Hospice · 10 March 2022 to 15 March 2022 ·

A group of people will be trekking the highest dunes in the Sahara Desert in 2022 for St Wilfrid's Hospice! This trek will raise vital funds for local hospice care for those who are terminally ill in West Sussex.

Story

St Wilfrid's Hospice is a cause very close to my heart. Whilst I haven't had to use the Hospice personally, I know countless people who have benefited from the exceptional care that the Hospice offers.

Over 90% of the care the Hospice provides right now is to patients who live in their own home. The Community nurses carry out over 3,500 visits each year across our community area. St Wilfrid's specialist nurses provide emotional, practical, physical and clinical support to every single patient for free. They can also care for people on the ward at the Hospice every hour of the day, for as long as that person needs it. The care people receive by their specialist nurses is of the highest quality and it means that a person has all of their medical and personal needs taken care of comfortably. It means families do not have to worry about caring for their loved one anymore, that's all taken care of so they just focus on quality time together.

And so, here we go...

In March 2022, I will be part of a team of fundraisers trekking in the Sahara for 4 days up some very tall sand dunes. I've never been particularly athletic, so this is most certainly a challenge for me, but if it benefits others, then that makes it doable in my book.

So if you feel you can support me in either monetary or moral forms, it would be much appreciated and if you see me out and about traipsing around on my training walks, please give me a wave!
