Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Nicki Murdock

In 2012 after issues with my health I was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, it’s a Pre-excitation Heart condition that causes the heart to beat erratically for no reason at all, and is caused by an accessory Pathway (short circuit), with the most severe side effect being SCD/Sudden Cardiac Death.

Previous to my last operation (in August 2017) I had decided to take on Trek Sri Lanka for the USPCA,
as after battles with anxiety and depression, which I still struggle with at times, I decided that I didn’t want to let my condition define me, or prevent me from living life to the fullest, but I needed the all clear before I was able to do so.

The Trek itself involves walking 90km over the space of 6 days and takes place in March 2018, there will be a lot of incline walking, the first day involving an 11km trek up Adam’s Peak. Travel & accommodation is being funded through a registration fee that I paid myself and all gear is being purchased by myself so any donation goes straight to the charity

In September 2017 I finally got the all clear and was officially discharged from my Cardiologist, after 5 procedures in the space of 4 years, to correct.

Since getting the all clear I have been working towards getting the target amount of £3250 for the charity, and with different events and street collections over the last few months and a Quiz night and raffle recently, I am so close.

The USPCA is an animal welfare charity and it receives no government funding and relies solely on voluntary donations to carry out its work.

Ideally I would love to smash through my target and I am asking for your help to do this with a donation/sponsor.  It does not have to be a lot as every penny counts.

Thanks,

Nicki x
