Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2019 as part of a team I will be attempting to reach the summit of Stok Kangri in the Himalayas, standing at 6153 metres or over 20,000 feet above sea level.

My road to the Himalayas started a lot earlier and closer to home though. I needed to be extra  fit for this final challenge so in preparation and in the hope that my pain and suffering encourages you all to dig a bit deeper, I have been involved in some other lunacy along the way.

  • On the 24th June 2018 I completed the Wilmslow Half Marathon.
  • On the 16th September 2018 I completed the Paras 10 event. A 10 mile endurance run carrying a 35lb rucksack and wearing military boots over the course of the Paras "P" Company route.
  • On the 13th October 2018 I completed the Hell up North event, advertised as the toughest half marathon in the UK with a variety of gruelling obstacles along the way.
  • On the 7th April 2019 I completed the Manchester Marathon

I am doing all this to try and raise as much money as possible for an amazing charity called Caring Matters Now. This is the only UK based charity that supports children born with a very rare congenital condition called CMN Syndrome. The condition comes with a significantly increased risk of cancer and serious cases can result in neurological problems and sadly premature fatalities.

This charity is very close to my heart as my own amazing little boy James was born with this condition in 2006 and is treated for it at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Caring Matters Now are the main source of funding for research being conducted at GOSH into the condition to try and identify treatments and a cure.

So hopefully my inevitable suffering will encourage you to dig really deep and help me reach my target, but whatever you can spare would really be appreciated.
