Brain Tumour Charity (The)

We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Charity Registration No. 1150054

Starting on 17th August 2014, I will be raising vital funds for The Brain Tumour Charity, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to fighting this devastating disease, by running 10 marathons in 10 weeks!

I wanted to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity for personal reasons having lost my sister Eleanor to a tumour aged only 2.

The 10 in 10

Aug 17th –         Cheddar Gorge Marathon

Aug 23rd –         Thames Meander Marathon

Aug 31st –         Halifax Marathon

Sept 7th –          Wolverhampton Marathon

Sept 14th –       Chesterfield & Derbyshire Marathon

Sept 21st –        Farnham Pilgrim Marathon

Sept 28th –        Nottingham Marathon

Oct 5th-              Bournemouth Marathon

Oct 12th-            Forest of Dean Marathon

Oct 19th -           Abingdon Marathon

I have paid for entry into all the events myself so all monies raised can go directly to charity. Although I don’t have a specific target in mind I am aiming to raise at least £1,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity through sponsorship.

Over 9,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year and brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet less than 2% of cancer research funding goes on brain tumours in the UK.  This year The Brain Tumour Charity is committed to changing this and will invest £2.5million in world-class, pioneering research across the UK this year, making it significantly the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours in the UK.  The Charity is accredited and commended by The Association of Medical Research Charities for ensuring that all the research it funds is selected through stringent, independent peer review, the only charity in its field to do so.

The Charity offers a comprehensive service to enable everyone with a brain tumour, their families and carers to receive the best support and information and achieve the highest quality of life possible, as well as raising awareness of brain tumours to improve life chances and reduce diagnosis times.
