Story
Becky and why we are running
Nicky, Lee, Ben and Joe are taking part in this year's Virtual London Marathon to raise much needed funds for ACACIA Family Support in memory of Becky Plummer. Becky was a kind, gentle loving person, who was gracious in all she did and touched many people's hearts throughout her life. She was a wonderful wife to Lee and mother to Calen-Mei and Zachary.
Tragically Becky passed away on 19th June 2021, before being able to run the London Marathon for Acacia Family Support that her and Lee have had a big connection with, a charity which offers help to families affected by pre and postnatal depression.
Becky and Lee used Acacia's service many years ago and since then have been heavily involved with the charity. They have devoted much of their spare time to raising awareness of postnatal depression, by sharing their story, with courage and vulnerability, to help volunteers to understand the depths of the struggles families go through with PND.
Nicola will also be taking on the challenge of the Great North Run on 12th September, Iess than a month before the London Marathon! She says "I have two children and I cannot image what Becky and Lee have gone through during the years. But I have spoken to Lee and I will be running both the Great North Run in September this year and will be running the Virtual London Marathon in October in honour of Becky Plummer and to raise awareness and vital funds for this worthy charity."
We know it has been a difficult 18 months, but if you can please donate to the worthy charity. Thank you for reading this story.

Information on Acacia Family Support
Acacia Family Support offers help to mums and families who are suffering from pre and post-natal depression. They believe that no mum/dad should suffer alone. They offer support through one to one befriending, group work sessions using CBT, telephone support and help in the home. “I look forward to Monday mornings knowing I will be listened to, having a place to talk things through has really changed how I was feeling and just being around other mums with post-natal depression makes me feel more normal" said a mum who attended Acacia.
