Thankyou for visiting my justgiving page and donating, whether its to support me after reading my story, or to support this great charity, or both!
Like many people I have always wanted to run London Marathon. I started running when I was a student, when I used to run along the coast in Aberystwyth. Yet despite having been a regular runner for over 15 years, this will be the hardest thing I have ever done.
I joined Avon Valley Runners in 2013 and they taught me so much about running. I ran several half marathons in Bath, Bristol and the Severn Bridge half. I met a setback in 2015 when I had to pull out of several races because I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). This was enough to send my fitness back to zero. So here I am, nearly three years later, with my ultimate goal in mind, and feeling fit and strong again. It has taught me a lot about myself and what my body needs and can achieve. So...2018 is going to be my year! If I don’t run a marathon now, I never will!
So that is why I think you should sponsor me.. but why Portishead RNLI? ..
I feel like I have come full circle now because I recently moved with Jake to Portishead where I am once again running along the coast, but this time with Portishead Running Club. Jake is on the Portishead Lifeboat crew and I see first hand the amount of effort, dedication and hard work that the crew put into keeping the station and equipment in good condition, in keeping up training, and in responding to their pagers at any time of the day and night to go and help people in need; and all on a voluntary basis.
Any donation, however small will mean so much to me and to the crew, and will give me the motivation to get through the training and really do this!
