The Chiltern's Marathon · 11 September 2016

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Most of my close friends will already know that last year my father-in-law Eric fell down the stairs at home and suffered a life changing head injury.  He spent over 6 months in hospital receiving treatment.  At the age of 73 he now requires full time care in a home and this has changed our family life for forever.

This is a personal challenge for me to complete a marathon and as such its not a requirement to raise funds for a specific charity which is why I've chosen Headway.  Headway are a local brain injury charity. They look after thousands of people each year including brain injury survivors and their families.

This was a freak accident and could happen at any time to anyone of us.  This has really opened my eyes to how fragile our lives are and how we should live life to the full as you never know when it might change.

Your donation to Headway will give other survivors the chance to lead a normal life.

Love
