I have often said (due to painful knees coming down any hill) I wish I could walk up and then magically be at the bottom again, but what I didn’t have in mind was abseiling down a rock face off the Great Orme! This however is something I am now “roped” into doing to raise funds for a fantastic charity Change Step.

Change Step work across Wales and I have seen the real difference their peer mentor and aged veteran programmes have made to the lives of some of the veterans I have been privileged to meet and work with.

To use their words: Change Step offers effective support for veterans in Wales including dedicated services for those in crisis, older
veterans, and people with mental health and substance misuse needs. Our team of veteran peer mentors use their own experiences to help veterans confront challenges in their lives, and to navigate and engage with vital support services throughout Wales. Since 2014, we've supported more than 1,700 veterans throughout Wales; veterans who have given a total of more than 10,000 years' service to the UK Armed Forces.

The thought of stepping back off the rock makes me think- arrgghh! help! but I am determined to have a go.
