Story

I (Nicola) was diagnosed with MS in September 2014 after having symptoms for 4 months. When I was told, I could have given in to MS but instead I was straight back to work and wanted to enjoy every minute of every day with my family, friends and colleagues. I took up the challenge last year not knowing if I would even manage to cycle to Drumnadrochit or Fort Augustus, but I did and I managed to cycle the whole way and beat my expected time by two hours. This year I'm back to beat my time again of 3hrs 53min, just like I'm going to beat MS! Bring on the Etape Lochness!

Now for Mia's story.....

My mum was told she had MS in 2014 and I didn't know anything about it. I decided to search it on the internet and I realised that I wanted to help people with MS or to inspire others to help people with MS. One night I was thinking about maybe doing a fundraiser to help but I wasn't sure what to do. The first idea I had was a bake sale and I thought that would be good. The next day I realised people will just take a cake and leave so I needed an idea. All day at school I thought about it and then when I went home I came up with the idea I could have a bake sale, with a raffle and other activities. That night I got all excited and then it came to me on Thursday night while watching Blue Peter, I needed to challenge myself, I thought about the thing I hate most and that is walking. I had my idea I was going to walk from Fort Augustus to Inverness. I knew it was gonna be hard but I knew I could do it, if I believed in myself. My mum and I are going to walk from Fort Augustus to Inverness on the Great Glen Way over a weekend, hopefully before the summer.
