Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We just wanted to take a moment to let you know why we are raising money for Ronald McDonald House.

Our daughter Lily Hughes spent almost ten weeks in hospital and the vast majority of this time she was in Glasgow Children's hospital. Her condition was so serious that we could never be far away. For the first 2 nights, we did not have anywhere to stay and spent the nights in the hospital. We were already worried about Lily, and the last thing we needed to worry about was where were going to sleep. Being accepted into Ronald McDonald House helped remove this worry and allowed us to be minutes away from Lily as the house is situated on hospital grounds. We were able to spend all of our time with Lily, taking turns to return to the house to sleep knowing that one of us was with Lily and the other could be there in a few minutes. We had access to the basic facilities we needed whilst away from home, which came in handy as we had left Kirkcaldy Hospital by ambulance in a hurry and needed to buy all of the essentials, tricky to do when we did not know how long we would be in Glasgow. Most importantly we were spared a huge amount of worry and stress, Ronald McDonald made it clear to us that we could have the room for as long as Lily was in the hospital.

We will be forever grateful for the fact that the charity allowed us to maximise our time with Lily. We did not need to worry about everyday concerns and we were able to truly enjoy our time with our baby girl.
