In 2013 Nicola's mother Mary Gallagher was diagnosed with dementia and over the following 6 years we had to witness as a family the impact of the disease. This has made us feel very passionate about finding a cure and aiding support for those already diagnosed with dementia along with their families.

Dementia is often referred to as the long goodbye and the Alzheimer's Society plays a vital role in providing both emotional and practical support and guidance for sufferers and their families which enables them to live with dignity. 

The idea of this challenge was not carefully considered and deliberated over, quite the opposite!! we have never climbed a mountain before and my boots still look lovely and new, I have managed to rope Michael in to carry the bags!! so this will be a real test for our marriage. 

We are determined to complete this challenge in honour of Mary and hopefully raise money to help find a cure, so that other families are saved the pain of watching a loved one slowly slip away.
