Nicola's September Challenge

September Challenge · 31 August 2020
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
September is an important month at local charity Shine Bright Support. It's Childhood Cancer Awareness month, the month of the September Challenge and also the month that Eleri, daughter of one of the founders of the charity left this world.
The aim of the charity is to support families affected by childhood cancer. An important part of what they do is to raise awareness of the difficulties families like mine and others face, and the difficult nature of treatment for children and young people.
Our daughter was first diagnosed 3 years ago, there was little support for us as a family, this is why charities like Shine Bright are so important.
I'm taking part in the September Challenge by aiming to run 100 kilometres. According to Clic Sargent’s report into the financial impact of travel on young cancer patients and their families the average trip for a family to attend appointments at their primary care centre is 60 miles. We still do these trips for follow up appointments and ongoing checks.
