Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

Samuel and Harry are cousins and best mates too.....they are doing the Junior Great North Run on Saturday 10th September 2022.

They will be running the 4km course being guided by Helen (My sister, Samuels mum) through Newcastle city centre.

They are doing this in support of Samuels Dad/Helens husband to raise money for the charity Anthony Nolan that helped match Kev with his lifesaving donor last year.
The boys would like to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity so they can continue their amazing work supporting other families like ours.

I (Nicola) am doing the Adults GNR on Sunday 11th September to raise money too. We have all come together to raise as much as much money as we can for the charity but also to raise awareness.

For those that have sponsored me the last two years, heres an update  and for those that are sponsoring for the first time, this is the story behind why were are doing this................THANKYOU

Kev recently was given the all clear from his blood cancer which was the best news, however he still has regular treatment , care and support at Freemans Cancer Care Unit and will continue this support for the next few years to ensure his immune system rebuilds and he lives a healthy life with his young family! Something that would not have been possible without his stem cell transplant.

People have stem cell transplants for many conditions however Kev needed this as he had Myelofibrosis which is a rare blood cancer affecting the bone marrow. Bone marrow is the soft inner part of our bones where our blood cells are made and with Myelofibrosis, scar tissue builds up within the bone marrow meaning blood cells can no longer be produced properly.

People can live with Myelofibrosis without significant symptoms for a length of time. However, the only possible cure is chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.

Sooo...These boys and I are putting on their running shoes and we hope you can show your support- no matter how little in sponsoring them for this amazing achievement!

Please give anything you can to help raise awareness and lives.

If you can’t donate please consider joining the stem cell register so that you can also potentially save a life!
