Run your red sox off for John Peterson

Nicola McEwen is raising money for The University of Edinburgh
In memory of John Peterson
This fundraising campaign will see friends and colleagues of the late Professor John Peterson traverse 500 miles (and maybe 500 more) to support postgraduate student learning.

Story

As part of the Run Your Red Sox Off for John Peterson
fundraising campaign, we – Nicola McEwen and Clare de Mowbray – are pledging to cycle and SUP 100 miles this October.

John was a great colleague and a loyal friend. He was a huge figure in the study of European Politics and US-EU relations. He always went the extra mile for post-graduate students, and they loved him in return. His friends, family and colleagues at the University of Edinburgh could think of no more fitting tribute than to collectively try to raise £5,000 to support PhD students, especially those doing research in John’s fields of study.

John was a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox, so we are all pledging to run/walk/cycle/paddle our socks off, while donning some fetching red socks!

As a contribution to the challenge, Clare and Nicola will each cycle 48 miles then together, Covid rules permitting, stand-up paddle for 2 miles. Those who have borne witness to Nicola falling off her board frequently will know these last 2 miles will be the hardest! We hope to raise £200 as a contribution to the campaign. Please help if you can.

Thank you all xx
