Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2026 for Autism Initiatives

Nicola Perring is raising money for Autism Initiatives UK

Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2026 · 13 September 2026 ·

We meet the needs of autistic people, their families and carers by providing a range of services which are personal, professional and innovative. We work in partnership in order to support autistic people to lead as independent and meaningful lives as possible.

Story

I am walking 21 miles in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk Mighty Stride on Sunday 13th December, raising money for Autism Initiatives — a charity incredibly close to my heart.

I worked with Autism Initiatives for 14 years, right up until 2025, and during that time I saw first-hand the amazing support they provide. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to autistic people and their families is something I will always admire.

This year, I’m walking alongside some of my former colleagues to raise funds for one service in particular: Number 6 – One Stop Shop.

Number 6 provides essential support, advice, social opportunities, and guidance for autistic adults across the Lothian and Borders.

Unfortunately, recent local authority funding reductions have put pressure on the service. We want to minimise the impact this has on the autistic people who use the service regularly. Every donation — big or small — helps protect a service that truly makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support.

Autism Initiatives Mission Statement
