Story
The North West is incredibly lucky to have a number of exceptional NHS trusts that serve our community. In particular Alder Hey stands as one of the most pioneering institutions globally, treating everything from the most common illnesses in Children through to highly complex and specialist conditions. Serving the North West, with further specialist clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man, Alder Hey has made a difference to countless families lives for over 100 years.
At HCI we are proud to support Alder Hey, not least because a number of us have had direct exposure and support from Alder Hey over the years.
In June 2020, my son Jude, had what was expected to be a routine MRI scan, but shockingly it revealed tumours in his brain. Jude had brain surgery the same month and has been closely monitored since by the specialist Neurology & Oncology departments.
I took part in the Snowdon night climb in May 2022 to raise vital funds for the hospital and to show my appreciation for the care and support afforded to me, Jude and my family since Jude’s diagnosis. I will also be taking part in Alder Hey's Sky Dive fundraiser 'The Big Jump' on 29th April 2023.
I'm the instigator of the Three Peaks challenge having talked about it in the office and gathering the interest of those taking part - 9 of my lovely HCI colleagues and 4 associates will be trying our very best to raise funds for the new NICU at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. I'm very grateful for all of the support I have received from colleagues - they really have picked me up when I've been down.
*Please remember to select the gift aid option which enables Alder Hey to claim additional tax relief from HMRC which will boost your donation by 25%*
