My name is Nicole Rosser I am 14 years old and I’m a year 10 student at Ellington and Hereson School in Ramsgate.

My uncle David was a proud miner at Betteshanger Colliery near Deal, Kent till the pit closed in 1989. He was also a keen fishermen and a family man. He liked to put his family first before himself, and left three daughters and one son.

On the 14^th May 2014 my uncle David lost his life to a cancer called Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which is a blood cancer. The cancer accelerated very fast around the body and the doctors where unable to treat the cancer and he died peacefully in the Pilgrims Hospice at Margate in Kent.

The doctors and nurses worked so hard towards the end of David’s life they were so kind and understanding and very professional at their work. Not only did the staff look after my uncle David till the end of his life they also helped the rest of my family to come to terms with this tragic loss.

I have decided that I will raise money for the Pilgrims Hospice at Margate to show my respect to all the hard working staff at the Hospice.

On May 23^rd 2015 I will be abseiling 400ft down the outside of a tower at the National Abseiling Centre in Northampton.
