Story
Sadly Nicole passed away very suddenly on Sunday 16th May 2010 after suffering a brain haemorrhage. True to her spirit, her website and this JustGiving page will remain open.
Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page.
Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer. It's a charity very, very close to my heart as I relapsed at the age of 13 and 17, after being diagnosed with a rare type of cancer when I was 11. TCT's main priority is to build special state-of-the-art units in NHS hospitals for teenagers going through treatment for cancer. TCT are now building one of these units at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey, which is where I've had my cancer treatment. It's a fantastic hospital, and I'd really like to give something back to them.
I have set up 'Nicole's fund' with Teenage Cancer Trust, and I am now trying to raise £100,000, which is how much it costs TCT to fully equip one patient's bedroom on the unit. This includes an electric bed, music system, plasma screen TV, laptop with internet access, games console, parents bed and an en-suite bathroom. It is hoped that the unit will be ready by the end of 2010, so I'd like to have reached my target by then.
Everyday in the UK 6 teenagers and young adults are diagnosed with cancer. That's 6 today, 6 tomorrow and 6 the day after. It's around 2,100 teenagers a year. One in every 312 boys and one in every 361 girls gets cancer by the time they're 20. Think about that for a minute. Now please donate generously to this fantastic cause, and help improve the lives of teenagers fighting cancer. You can either do it via this page which is totally secure, or by sending a cheque made payable to Teenage Cancer Trust, to Teenage Cancer Trust, Nicole's fund, PO box 702, East Grimstead, RH19 3WX.
