Story
When my husband died suddenly over five years ago my amazing network of family and friends couldn't do enough to support me and my children, and they have continued to do so. There came a point in my journey though when I needed to talk to those who had been through a similar experience and WAY Widowed and Young was there for me.
I have attended many meet-ups with my local WAY members laughing and crying in quick succession with people who just got what it felt like. In addition to encouraging local support networks the charity also does fantastic work lobbying government on issues that affect the bereaved.
The WAY annual Dragonboat race has had to be cancelled this year, so we have instead been challenged to walk as far as we can to raise funds and awareness for WAY Widowed and Young. I am aiming to walk 300k (186 miles) during July for this fantastic charity, which is a lifeline for those who are bereaved young, and as a way to say thank you for helping me.
