Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Yes this really is the Nigel you thought you knew - and so you will appreciate that I will be quite a long way out of my comfort zone. I am joining a group of cyclists for an 84 mile amble from Cambridge to Langham in Norfolk - here are more details:
The challenge is to persuade as many people as we can to sponsor us to ride a bicycle, probably for over 8 hours, from North Cambridge to a little known place in North Norfolk, risking life, limb, wind and rain. And all simply to help the people of the Waterberg. Few of us will have ever been to the Waterberg or even heard of its existence before volunteering to make this great effort for the people of the Waterberg simply because we can and they need our help. We will be raising funds for The Waterberg Trust (TWT) that builds the people of the Waterberg, a disadvantaged area in Northern South Africa, 2 hours drive into the hills north of Johannesburg. Supporting Community Projects, Education and Health initiatives are just a few of the ways that TWT helps the people to help themselves. Specific examples include nurse training, after school support and English language teaching so that children can thrive in senior schools. In such small but critical ways, TWT is busy making a massive difference to many lives. But it can only do so if you and I help also. This ride will also help to Save the Waterberg Rhino from poachers because maintaining the the biodiversity of the region is important also for economic and ecological reasons.
