Story
I was in a climbing accident last year. I was swept over 1,000 feet by an avalanche, breaking my back and shoulder blade. I was saved by mountain rescue teams from Arrochar, Glencoe and the Royal Navy.
Britain’s mountain rescue teams rely solely on unpaid volunteers and charitable donations. On 23 June I will be taking part in Ironman France in order to raise funds for the guys that saved my bacon.
An Ironman triathlon comprises a 3.8k swim, 180k cycle and 42k run. I’ve done a month in hospital, three months in a body brace, three months physiotherapy and nine months training to get to this point.
I will be covering all of my costs. You will be able to claim GiftAid and my employer has generously committed to matching contributions (up to £1,500), so a £1 donation will mean £2.25 for life saving equipment.
Please give generously.
