Rock Ramble Repeat!

Ramble up the Rock · 20 March 2021
The Brief
I am embarking on a personal challenge to raise money which will
go towards funding medical research and providing support to patients on the oncology ward.
I promise it will test my stamina and endurance, make my legs ache, and probably make me swear a few times but it will be so worth it to achieve my goal of hiking up and down the Rock of Gibraltar, which is 426 meters (1,398ft) above sea level,18 times within 18 weeks.
The Why?
Cancer is a B*****d and I want to raise money so the professionals can defeat it. This is a cause very close to mine and my family's heart’s . It took my father many years ago, but investing in science and care, can make all the difference as I am reminded daily by those that are fighting back and those that have survived it.
The How?
I will trek up and down the Rock on a weekly basis for 18 weeks or less, varying my routes but always starting from ground level and ending on top of the rock. Most times I will tackle the hardest of paths, that of the Mediterranean steps because well its probably the hardest for me , and who doesn’t want to get out of bed for jelly legs!
The Ask
Hiking up and down the Rock of Gibraltar can take me up to approx. 3 hours depending on the route and climate. On average I reckon a round trip should have me walking between 8-12km . I am no spring chicken! so the ask is please support me if you can donate anything to this, I will be so grateful.
If any Gibraltar or Spain based friends are available to join me on any of the walks, for moral support and the occasional shove here and there, then that would be amazing too.
