Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

This May I’ll be heading to Nepal climbing 5,380 metres above sea level over 130km and 14 days to Everest base camp! It’s a privilege to be able to travel in this part of the world, and to complete the base camp trek has been an ambition of mine for a good few years! But it’s gonna be tough! I’m feeling excited and determined, but it’s not THE most relaxing way to spend my holiday time, nor will it be easy, infact I’m sure there are days I will HATE my life and think I’m crazy! 😂 So! In anticipation of those harder moments, I thought it’d be a nice idea to have something to focus on to keep me positive and pushing onwards, so I’d like to try and raise a little bit of money for a worthy cause at the same time. Hopefully the thought of the donations made and faith shown in me by those who’ve done so will spur me on when I feel dreadful!

I’ve decided to split my fundraising between two charities, both of which are excellent causes. The close to home - the Newcastle based Children’s foundation I’ve worked with previously with my school choirs, (you can find a link to that page above under the “team” link and the big red button) and the Nepal Youth Foundarion. The NYF is a Nepalese children’s charity who run an extraordinary number of programmes at looking after thousands of children and youths (you can read more about their 2019/2020 objectives below). We’re so privileged here in the UK, and already have SO much, I wanted to give something back to the community that’s actually hosting me. Nepal are still reeling in many ways from the 2015 earthquake which claimed 9000 lives, and has had a huge negative impact on infrastructure and those already marginalised or living in poverty.  So I’d really like to raise a bit of money to be able to give both a little bit.

It is entirely up to you which page you support! If you’re here reading and considering it, it’d be very kind of you if one really sticks out to you! Or, if you can, splitting your pennies between the two would be amazing, I’d really love it if I could give a little bit of money to everyone.  Thanks for reading, lots of love, and wish me luck!! 😁🤞😘 NAMASTE 🙏 🇳🇵

The Nepal Youth foundation UK work to combat child malnutrition, freeing young girls from bonded labour and slavery in addition to providing psychosocial support, vocational training and career counselling, running sustainable children’s homes and supporting children living with extended family. Its looking like I may be able to visit one of their Kathmandu based projects whilst I’m there and give some time, which I’m really thrilled about, their work really is so important, you can read more about it here: www.nepalyouthfoundation.org.uk and again if you can donate, would be a wonderful support to exceptional work!
