Yorkshire Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

We exist to help lost, injured or distressed persons in and around the North York Moors, Wolds and Coast. We also spends time in the local community educating people to be safe in the hills and what to do if something goes wrong. We are funded 100% from fundraising and voluntary contributions.

Story

This year we have decided to do the Yorkshire Marathon to push ourselves physically and after being inspired by our running club Ripon Beginners Running Club (#RBRC). We have also decided to fundraise for the local Mountain Rescue team following an incident at the Dalby Forest Run in January when Jackie fractured her ankle and needed rescuing. The team were brilliant looking after Jackie and those with her so we would like to raise funds to say thank you for all they did that night.

The Mountain Rescue team give up their time voluntarily and receive no payment or expenses, however having the equipment, vehicles and support facilities to operate and potentially save lives is expensive. The team received no government funding and is funded entirely by donations, sponsorship and fundraising events. Without the generous support of individual, groups and local companies the team would not be able to operate.

We would like to raise £1000 for the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team as this could fund a comprehensive first aid kit (£300) and one set of mountain rescue hardware (£700).

Thank you so much for your support and helping Mountain Rescue continue to be there for those who need them.
