Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We all miss Dad so much, and one of the things that has helped me over the years since his passing is my running.  Following on from the Olympic Park 5 mile run I did in March 2012, I have gradually been building my running time and distance.  I started taking it quite seriously last December when, after a 10K race I realised I wasn't going to improve without a little help.  I now have someone helping me train, and without Rachel, and many wonderful running friends I wouldn't even be able to consider a half marathon.  I've worked so hard to get ready for the Birmingham Half in the hope that I can raise as much as possible for The Brain Tumour Charity.  I've trained in the heat of the summer, the cold of the winter, wind, rain, hail.  I've been soaked by passing vans (do you remember the Christmas storms?), had horrible blisters, an injury, three pairs of trainers, and even continued to keep up my running schedule whilst on holiday.  I've cried a bit and laughed a lot, but it's always knowing that there was a half marathon that I was working towards that has kept me going.

To be diagnosed with a brain tumour is just terrible, and if I can raise funds to help fund reseach into this awful disease so that in the future, diagnosis, treatment and ultimately a cure can be found, then at least something positive can come out of Dad's illness.  Please sponsor me to run the Birmingham Half Marathon with my amazing friend Claire, we are going to love every minute of it, but every penny will add up to beating cancer.
