Throughout the next couple of months, MADLY, I am going to be competing in the following events:

31st May, I will be doing an Olympic distance Triathlon from Hyde Park, London, this comprises of a 1.5k swim,  40k bike ride and finishing with a 10k run.

14th June, I will be doing a Half Ironman in Staffordshire, this comprises of a swim of 1.2 miles in open water, a 56 mile bike ride and finishing with a run of 13.1 miles.

Finally, on 26th July, I will be completing Outlaw in Nottingham, the event I have been madly training for. This comprises of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and finally a marathon.  Totally crazy but so exciting!!!!  I will have to complete this event in under 17 hours in order to achieve the status of 'Ironman' and receive a medal!

I've really enjoyed the training and it really hurts sometimes ...but I am so proud of myself for keeping going and keeping on !

I decided I wanted to complete an Ironman before i hit 50 ! Pretty daft wishlist huh? I was at a slight disadvantage - I couldn't swim!!.  Although I could meander about in the pool and manage a width, I could not put my face in the water.  In September 2013, I took the plunge with KAYS swimming school  and had swimming lessons.  In just over 18 months I have gone from not swimming to swimming 2.4 miles in open water - awesome!! And with Havering Tri I've learnt to run better and cycle faster !!

The reason I am supporting Melanoma Focus is because the sister of a good friend of mine received the news, in December, that she is suffering from stage 4 melanoma.

Melanoma is a serious form of cancer, usually arising from the pigment-producing cells within the skin. Melanoma is the UK’s most rapidly-increasing type of cancer, with around 13,000 new cases every year.  It is becoming more and more common in the UK, where it is the 6th most common cancer – with more women than men affected. It is the most common form of cancer in young adults.

Scientists are closing in on the way melanoma manages to reinvent itself and defy the drugs that fight it, every penny raised towards that goal brings the day of breakthrough ever nearer.

Please sponsor me, if you are a taxpayer remember to add the gift aid - ANY amount big or small will help.

The nearer we get to beating this disease the better for all of us - incredibly nearly 50% of us will, at some stage, face cancer in our lifetimes - so please be as generous as you can.

Although, the money raised from the above events will be going to Melanoma Focus, Scientists are finding out more and more that cancers are genetic and this will help other cancers such as pancreatic, lung and breast etc.
