The Aspire Channel Swim 2016 · 5 December 2016 to 31 March 2017 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2016, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire.

I wake up every morning, I go to work, I occasionally meet friends for dinner, I race for the last train home, I go for walks on sunny days, if i feel like it, I go on adventures at the drop of a hat, I make delicious meals at home, I entertain friends, I water the flowers.

I do all these things because I am physically able to. For people with Spinal cord injuries, the simplest things are a challenge. For example, getting into London.

Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury

By raising money for Aspire, I can contribute towards the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently.

This isn't an easy challenge for me. I haven't swum more than 100 metres in years, so personally it will be a great achievement :)

I'm not asking for loads of cash here, any amount will make a difference. A Fiver, A tenner, A quid. Whatever you can easily afford will be greatly appreciated.
