Please help us help people who cannot help themselves
Yateley Industries has been supporting people with disabilities for the
last 80 years but are now having major financial difficulties and need our help - Please see below for a more detailed summary of who Yateley Industries are and their current financial difficulties
Yateley Industries has been a fantastic employer for people with disabilities also providing accommodation for many. They will be heartbroken if they were forced to close down.
Please help us raise money to ensure they stay in their jobs which gives them dignity and make them feel part of the society
I have decided to try and help raise some money for this fantastic cause by walking the famous Ridgeway; its approximately 87 miles long that starts at Overton Hill (near Marlborough) and finishes at Ivingoe Beacon (North of Aylesbury).
My friend Harry Johnson has volunteered to join me on this adventure and some other friends will join us on some days so that together we can raise as much money as possible.
So please sponsor us now if you can, every penny counts
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Yateley Industries gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid is added to your donation.
Yateley Industries
Yateley Industries started in 1937 and has progressed and flourished over the years into an organisation providing an invaluable service to the entire spectrum of people with disabilities.
Yateley Industries works to sustain and increase the opportunities for people with disabilities in rewarding employment, both with its internal employment opportunities and mainstream work, with an occupation that enables a person with disabilities to contribute to society. It operates one of the few remaining supported factories that help disabled people to do paid meaningful work and training intended to help them progress into mainstream employment.
Yateley Industries also provides a contract packing/assembly service for several local businesses, using specialised packing and cutting machines for shrink wrapping hardware. Other projects have included packing hair care products, assembling vehicle lighting components and small motor parts, bottling glue, labelling CDs and mailshots as well as packing car accessories.
At Yateley Industries the aim is to encourage each individual to fulfil his or her own potential, both at work and at home. We provide people with paid employment and assisted accommodation where desirable.
Employees work towards identified goals, encompassing areas such as financial management, independent living skills, production output and social integration. Progress towards achieving these goals is monitored and aided by our supportive staff.
Yateley Industries receives funding and support from various avenues including Department of Works and Pension, Local Authorities and Social Services for our disabled employees, however this funding is diminishing. A quarter of our income comes from our commercial activities and a quarter comes from charitable grants and corporate organisations and a half from government funding.
Yateley is suffering from the ravages of time, including reduced funding, lower margins, higher costs and the effects of aging on the property. To enable us generate enough income to meet our commitments, we need to increase the occupancy rate of our homes for People with Disabilities.
But to enable us to rent out our vacant units to People with Disabilities we need to refurbish them first. But we don’t have the funds to do this.
If we can’t increase our income we can’t meet all of our commitments moving forward, particularly addressing the issues of the Pension deficit.
We need to invest money in the properties to bring them up to standard, renew the boiler and invest in the future of Yateley Industries.
With your help, we have already been able to achieve so much, but we need you now, more than ever, especially in today’s economic climate.
You can make a really difference to everyone that lives and works at Yateley Industries, together we can all ensure that Yateley Industries is here for the next generations and for the next 80 years.
If you would like to make a donation it would be hugely
appreciated by all of us here
