Story
I am walking a half marathon for Thames Hospice on 10 September, https://www.thameshospice.org.uk., where I am a trustee and vice chair. Whilst this walk will challenge me a little, I know what a difference the money will make to those patients and families who are facing far greater challenges. Thames Hospice supports patients and their families through this toughest of journeys and offers respite, care, compassion and support. And whilst it supports the NHS enormously by providing a facility for people discharged from hospitals, we get only 26% of our funding from them. The rest, around £11m, we need to raise every year. The need for services is so great that we have expanded to a "care at home" service for people who prefer to spend their last days at home. The work undertaken by colleagues at the hospice, with care and compassion, is truly amazing and humbling. But it all needs to be funded.
It costs:
£110 to provide lunch for 10 patients visiting the therapy unit
£1,050 for 24 hour care in an inpatient unit
£5,400 for 3 patients to receive hospice at home care for 7 weeks
They cannot do this without your help so please dig deep and sponsor me as much as you can
Thank you
