Kim Browne is raising money for Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service
In memory of Nimmi Browne
Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, in honour of our little niece Nimmi Browne.
In July 2014 Nimmi was born with a very rare life limiting syndrome, Trisomy 18 also known as Edwards Syndrome. Her parents, had been given the worst possible news any family could receive, Nimmi was expected to live a few short weeks. Being the parent to a child with a life limiting condition means suspending what the rest of us understand as a normal life. It can be heartbreaking, physically and emotionally exhausting, painful and joyous all at the same time.
Two years on at Nimmi's birthday party, we celebrated her remarkable resilience and strength. She was a fighter, our 'warrior princess' and continued to amaze everyone who knew her with her progress and determination. Her smile would light up the world and fill hearts with so much love and happiness.
As her condition deteriorated, she became tired but continued to smile for her amazing parents and doting family and friends.
Sadly, Nimmi passed away in September, shortly after her second birthday, defying all odds and overcoming many obstacles that came her way.
This is partly due to the help from Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service. The only charity supporting children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses in Berkshire and beyond. I'm not sure I have the words to articulate how instrumental this service is in providing support. Their vision, to give children and their families a choice of care, a place where life is for living and respected in its frailest form, offering a place where they can 'simply be'. Every penny donated, will make a difference in making their dream a reality.
We're honored to be running for Alexander Devine in Nimmi's memory. Neither one of us have ever run this distance, training will be intense I'm sure! One thing is certain, we'll press on through the discomfort when the tough gets going. Keeping Nimmi's strength and determination in the forefront of our minds, until we cross the finish line.
