WeSeeHope is a charity committed to creating sustainable change for vulnerable children in East Africa through education, child rights and economic empowerment initiatives.

Story

In September 2018 it'll be my Dad's 100th trip to Africa (as CEO of the charity WeSeeHope) That's 99 times, through my childhood and teens, I've said goodbye and hello and heard the inspiring stories from where he works. I was 8 when he started going. Lots of the kids were 8 too and had had the trauma of losing their parents - and there were some who, by the age of 10, were the head of the household, looking after siblings, trying to find their way in the world. The same world as I've lived in. But it didn't feel like it. I seemed to have so many opportunities.  But WeSeeHope exists to give these young people opportunities -  the chance to get educated and trained, to get back on their feet and to build their own future which they do with extraordinary grit, hope and energy. In September, I will finally be joining my Dad in Africa on his 100th trip!

So, inspired by these courageous young people, I have decided to take on the challenge of the Prudential RideLondon- Surrey 100 to raise money for such an amazing organisation. Yes, that's 100 miles! I don't yet have my own bike and my last bike ride was unsuccessful, beginning and ending with an ungraceful fall. However as many people know, I love a challenge and  and so I have just started training, between exams.

I would be so grateful if you would consider donating to raise as much as we possibly can for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Africa.

* all money goes straight to the charity not my trip *

Any donation of any size will make a huge difference towards my overall goal! The potential impact is so exciting:

  • £15 could enable a child in Kenya to learn about their rights and how to protect them.
  • £50 could provide a child headed household in Uganda with a goat, providing milk and baby goats to sell on.
  • £100 could buy a tool kit for a trainee carpenter in Malawi, enabling them to set up their own business.
  • £150 could provide training in toy production skills for pre-school teachers in Zimbabwe, enabling them to make toys from available and low cost materials.
  • £1,000 could establish a Village Investors Programme group in Kenya, funding their equipment, training, monitoring and support for three years, and economically empowering 30 parents and guardians to better provide for their children.
