EJF works in some of the world's most difficult and remote countries to protect vulnerable communities, wildlife and wild places. Our campaigns have led to action on forced labour and human trafficking, national and global bans on deadly pesticides and arrests of illegal 'pirate' fishing trawlers.

Story

On 2nd June 2010 I will try again to cycle from London to Paris which is what I planned to do last year but had to postpone as the organizers were not keen on pregnant women taking part…A year and a baby girl later I try again! The plan is to cycle from London to Paris in order to raise money for the EJF charity. The ride is about 300 miles long and ends under the Eiffel Tower on the fourth day after a daily 6-8 hours cycling!

While researching organic cotton as part of the dissertation for my Masters degree, which I finished end of last year, I witnessed what important work EJF is doing and how much they have achieved already (raising awareness on forced child labour in the cotton industry as well as on the detrimental environmental and human health impacts the cotton production industry has; setting up industry initiatives and their supply chains; getting Tesco, Sainsburys and other major UK retailers to ban cotton from Uzbekistan); for more information go to www.ejfoundation.org (or http://www.ejfoundation.org/page93.html for cotton in particular). So I hope that with my pedal power and hopefully your support, I can help EJF to carry on with their important environmental and human rights work.

Please send cheques to me but made payable to Environmental Justice Foundation CT so that I can forward it to the charity. Please write on the back of the cheque my name and EJF cycle London-Paris 2010.
