Jack Calvert is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

The Nippy Dippers · 30 November 2020

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

The Nippy Dippers are a group of men from across the Highlands, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who will be braving the elements in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Every day in December 2020, the participants will be undertaking cold water exposure through loch or sea swims, ice/cold water baths, cold showers or a splash in any other body of chilly water they can find. Maybe we’ll even see some ice breaking!

One of the group is currently undergoing treatment for bowel cancer, while the others’ lives have been touched by cancer in many different ways.

Macmillan support those with cancer from the moment they’re diagnosed, through treatment and beyond, offering emotional, physical and financial support.

The aim of the challenge will be to be in cold water for at least one minute every day, although some will do so for longer spells. Updates, videos and photos will be posted on this page.

Those undertaking the open water dunks are our more-experienced group members and are doing so at their own risk. Please give generously for this good cause.

The Nippy Dippers are Chris Jenkins, Kenny MacLean, Andy Begg, Jack Calvert, Ewan Johnstone and Bill Martin.
