The Prison Radio Association aims to reduce reoffending using the power of radio. It launched and runs the world’s first and only national radio station for prisoners – National Prison Radio – which broadcasts programmes produced and presented by prisoners working alongside radio professionals.

Story

Hello everyone!

It is my birthday today, and so I am doing a fundraiser for Prison Radio Association who provide National Prison Radio (NPR).

"Reducing reoffending is of benefit to everybody. Equipping prisoners with skills and confidence is crucial in bringing down reoffending rates."

It's a radio station for prisoners that provides information to help cope (with their pasts, current situations, concerns for their futures and the emotional impact that can all have), to better themselves and to have an outlet. It also gives prisoners insight into opportunities to re-build their lives both in prison and upon re-entry into society. This can include where to look for job support, educational opportunities and all sorts!

Awareness is the first step. Sometimes just knowing that there are people who understand, can relate and overcome, and that there are opportunities out there, can really help them and their loved ones.

So if you would like to and are able to, please help support this cause! I would really appreciate it, and I'm sure many others would and will continue to benefit from this radio's continued existence. It is a creative and effective way of reaching others in a meaningful way.

Hope you have a great day, thank you very much for reading!
