Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
With over 900,000 people living with Dementia in the UK, many of us will be affected by it whether that is your family members, friends or yourself. My lovely Nana, Valerie, is living with Dementia and our family has truly seen the light and dark side of the moon throughout her journey. Currently, she is receiving wonderful care from those who understand dementia and she is thriving in her new home but without their support, we would still be struggling to completely meet her needs.
With my employer, Care Match UK, choosing Dementia UK as their charity of the year it has spurred me to take on yet another challenge to help others in my situation. So, with an injury from my previous challenge of the London Marathon still affecting me daily - I am going to be running/crawling up 42 flights of stairs and abseiling (most likely whilst screaming with my eyes closed) down the side of the cheesegrater building in London as I take on the London Skyscraper challenge. £15 could cover the telephone costs of five families affected by dementia calling our free national Dementia Helpline.
£60 could pay for a specialist dementia nurse to advise two families in our virtual clinics so that they can better support the person they care for.
£225 could fund a new specialist dementia nurse to run a full day of face-to-face appointments for families affected by young onset dementia (where symptoms develop under the age of 65).
