Story
Thanks for visiting my page,
As most of you already know, I have been and conquered Mt Kilimanjaro, my own personal Everest! It was an amazing and absolutely unforgettable experience. It was pushing my boundaries to the absolute limits. It was 8 days of no showers, pit toilets and constantly drawing on inner reserves of strength!
I came through. I didn't make it up to the very top of the crater at 5865m but I DID make it to Gilman's Point- the first summit on the mountain, at 5685m and just under 200m below the final summit. Any further would have been a suicide attempt for me unfortunately. However, I am very glad I made it that far despite my lungs, heart, legs, fingers and toes and my whole body kicking, screaming and encouraging me to turn back!!!!
It wasn't easy, especially the 'ick' factor. I have never been so glad to see a power shower in my life after this trip. I will never take the normal luxuries in life for granted again. The memories of this challenge, the friends I made and all the absolutely inspirational people I met during my journey will stay with me for the rest of my life. Some pictures of this amazing journey and the absolutely fascinating country that is Tanzania are available in my Kilimanjaro photo album. Do pop along and take a look at:

On a more serious note, the main purpose of my undertaking this challenge was to raise money and awareness of charities which work to empower women and children and tackle poverty in Africa and the rest of the developing world. Although I have raised a considerable amount of money thanks to everyone's generosity, I know that some of you were waiting for me to do the challenge before you make good on your pledge. It’s time to do so now!!!
{Else I’ll hunt you down and bug you constantly :-)}
Please, Please, go along to one of my justgiving pages (links in my profile) and make a contribution. No amount is too small.
Thanks always
