Nystagmus Network 2009 International Research Workshop · 30 September 2009 ·

Nystagmus means involuntary movements of the eye. It impairs vision, affecting focus and depth perception. At least 1 in 1,000 babies are born with nystagmus. There is currently no cure. The Nystagmus Network is a UK registered charity which provides support, raises awareness and funds research.

Story

In 2005 we held the world's first Scientific Workshop on nystagmus. It was a spectacular achievement bringing nystagmus researchers from around the globe together to help them to effectively progress our understanding of nystagmus.

A lot has happened since the 2005 Workshop; for example, the first gene for nystagmus has been identified and a first round of drug trials has been completed. Effectively, each workshop brings us one step closer to that possible treatment, hence...

We are doing it again!

We estimate that the next Workshop will cost approximately £30,000 and £10,000 for a subsequent book - a total target of £40,000.

We (The Nystagmus Network UK) are pledging £10,000 from our current funds and are approaching funding organisations. However, we need your donations of whatever sum.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate to this cause: we will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please support this event and help us bring that possible cure closer.

On behalf of nystagmus sufferers worldwide, thank you for your support.
