In January 2023, our 7 month old baby Noah unfortunately suffered a stroke. In an instant our worlds were turned upside down and we were anticipating a 6 week stay at Southampton Children’s Hospital.  Noah was admitted to the High Dependancy Unit where he would receive treatment and care from the most amazing Nurses and Doctors. However HDU couldn’t  accommodate parents to stay bedside at night, which as you can imagine broke our hearts to find out we would have to leave our baby’s side! 

This is where Ronald McDonald House Charities came in and helped us! They provide free 'home away from home' accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK, enabling us to stay close to Noah. Thanks to a Ronald McDonald House Southampton, we were just a short 4 minute walk from our room to Noah’s bed side, and it was a huge relief knowing that if he needed us in the night, we could get to Noah so quickly! Noah made and still continues to make a tremendous recovery, that we actually made it home after 2 weeks instead of the expected 6!  But we know we couldn’t have got through those awful 2 weeks without the support of Ronald McDonald housing us. 

Each year they help over 6,000 families to stay together, and they couldn't continue without support. There are many more families who need their support, so to help build even more Houses across the UK, I along with my Dad, Sister and friends, am taking part in the Inflatable 5K series 2023. Taking place on Sunday 9th July, we'll bounce around a unique obstacle course like no other.
