Story
We've raised our target again having hit £1350 which will support one young person for 6 months. We are now aiming at a full year!!
We’re helping to shape young futures' by walking 248 miles!
The entire length of the Kennet and Avon Canal (100 miles) and then on to London’s Thames Barrier (88 miles) and then on to the end of the Thames at Isle of Grain (Thames Estuary) (50 miles)!
Starting on January 28th over 9 weekends, we will walk no matter the weather. We will have a slight break in between to walk the last 75 miles of the Portuguese Camino! It’s going to take a while as we can only do weekends and weekends when Emma isn’t working for the NHS
We will start in the dark every morning and walk into sunset.
Caudwell Youth is a charity that I set up with 3 others and our founder John Caudwell. John is a billionaire philanthropist committed to giving away 70% of his wealth before or after his death. His supports covers most of our core costs so your donation will go directly to supporting our young people.
We support at-risk young people at risk of or offending, at risk of or experiencing exploitation, who may have mental health challenges or who are care experienced through a 2-year volunteer mentoring programme.
Last year we walked the entire length of the Grand Union Canal in beautiful sunny weather, blizzards and where it rained for 8 hours on more than one day!
While it will be hard work, we know that for every £500 we raise, we will support a young person for 2 months. Those two months may be enough to change their life forever.
Your support is really appreciated and any donation large or small makes a difference!
