No chocolate month for Middle Street School · 1 June 2019

Middle Street Primary School is a wonderful school in the heart of Brighton, but it is under constant financial pressure from the government's real terms funding cuts. The Middle Street School Fund raises money to help maintain the excellent educational experience the school provides for its pupils.

Story

Oscar, Tony and Ellen are going to give up chocolate for the whole of June and hope to raise some money whilst doing this for Middle Street Primary:

Help us save Every Child a Reader

Every Child a Reader (ECaR) is a scheme the school runs to help ensure that any child who is struggling with reading gets extra help outside the classroom to keep up with their peers.

The ECaR scheme has been incredibly successful but requires a dedicated member of staff and despite the fantastic news of Ofsted having just reconfirmed Middle Street School as a "Good" school, the financial pressures on the school remain intense.

As all costs continue to rise, the school budget has seen a real terms cut that has meant we've already had to reduce staff numbers. Tragically, next year, if the school cannot raise additional funding it will have to cut the ECaR post, ending this invaluable scheme.

The Middle Street School Fund is an independent charity set up by the school governors to raise voluntary contributions to help support the school's core finances. We work closely with the school and the school PTA (formerly FFOMSS). Our primary goal this year is to raise £28,000 by the end of summer term so we can save the ECaR post.
