Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Zac and I decided to fundraise for MDS UK, as we know this small charity is now struggling due to the impact of the coronavirus.
I was first made aware of this rarer blood cancer, Myelodysplastic Syndromes, because my girl-friend is running the charity MDS UK Patient Support Group.
Like most people, I had never heard of this disease.
Six months after meeting her, by some very odd and rare coincidence, a relative was diagnosed with MDS, back home in Malaysia. My deeply worried relatives were in need of information and support, as MDS is an extremely rare form of blood cancer.
The charity stepped in to provide crucial information, through their international connections with key experts in the field.
This helped to put their mind at rest that their child was receiving the best possible care and advice.
Zac and I helped out on a previous fundraiser, the Prudential 100 - by welcoming the cyclists - and seeing how much effort goes into fundraising - so that the charity can help patients and families affected by MDS.
Now - through the coronavirus pandemic, all fundraising events have had to stop, or got cancelled or postponed - meaning the charity is experiencing a serious shortfall in donations.
This is why we decided to help - how we can.
We joined the 2.6 challenge.
We decided to cycle 14.3 miles each on our bikes - over 2 days - giving us a total of 26miles.
I'd be seriously grateful for any donations, big or small.
Thank you
Zac and Noel Bernatt
