Story
30 October 2012:
Thank you very much to everyone who supported and encouraged me especially the O'Connor and Cullen familes.I am surpised by the generous sponsorship I have received.
I'm chuffed to bits at having run it in under 5 hours. I really enjoyed the marathon especially the crowds cheering and waving funny signs. No injuries, only 4 blisters. No surprise there. What an amazing experience especially in Rathgar (16 mile mark) where my family were out on the road cheering. I got some hugs to help me on my way. At the end after 26 miles I couldn't believe it, I was still smiling and waving but of course I said never again! I'll upload photos next week when things are back to normal. During the 18 weeks before the marathon, I ran 445.5 miles.
Thanks again to all but especially my biggest fans who have shared this experience every step of the way: Pat, Maeve and Matilda.
July 2012: Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.
The marathon will be on Monday, 29 October - 26 miles (42km). It is known as the 'Friendly Marathon' and is meant to be a good first marathon. However, for me it is a once in a lifetime thing!!
In 2008, my mother (Noreen O’Connor) had a serious heart attack. Thankfully she has recovered really well. This happened on the same weekend as the London marathon and I promised myself then I would do a marathon and fundraise for a charity working to prevent heart disease. Here I am, a few years later, getting around to it.
So whether your family have been affected by a heart condition or you would just like to support me in my efforts to run this marathon, please sponsor me now! Many thanks.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Whatever you can give, any amount, is most welcome.
All the best
