Most people still think of ‘slavery’ as something from the past – an evil practice that’s been safely abolished and consigned to history. But there are actually more people trapped in slavery today than at any point in human history.
Modern slavery is thought to be the world’s third-largest criminal enterprise. It is a hidden crime, but the best estimates suggest there are 40.3 million people in forced labour, forced marriage, sexual exploitation and domestic servitude.
This why the Nomad Foods Sustainability team is Going the Distance to raise money for Hope for Justice.
Hope for Justice is a global charity founded in the UK in 2008. They work to end modern slavery and human trafficking with an effective, proven multi-disciplinary model. Hope for Justice works from more than 30 locations across five continents. They work in England & Wales, Scotland, the USA, Cambodia, Norway, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Australia.
