Great North Run 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·

Formed in 2007 as part of Southern Nomads (IOM) RUFC's 25th anniversary, the SPort Erin charity aims to: - raise funds to facilitate the provision of sporting facilities for the south of the IOM. - encourage the ongoing participation of rugby and other sporting events in the south of the island.

Story

Ranald and T are venturing to the North East to take on the challenge of the Great North Run half marathon. Neither of us would be running this distance if it weren't for the support of Striders.

Striders is a social running/walking group who meet every Saturday morning to encourage people to enjoy exercise and make new friends. Regardless of your fitness, everyone is welcome at Striders. Whether you choose to run or walk, you are always someone to join you and encourage, and we finish with a fab coffee/catch up.

Ranald joined Striders after completing rehabilitation following a heart attack. Striders helped him to continue to a positive relationship with keeping healthy and now he is a great ambassador for social fitness. T joined Striders to try to keep fit enough to keep playing football. Now running is her new love after she retired from football following a broken wrist.

Following the closure of the charity Striders was attached to, our group became homeless. We were lucky enough to be adopted by Southern Nomads Rugby club and have since changed to become 'Nomadic Striders'. We are raising funds for Southern Nomads - SPort Erin new clubhouse and future Nomadic Striders home.
