2011 Great Scottish Run 10K · 4 September 2011 ·
In January of this year my eldest son, Jonathan, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. As you can you imagine this came as a major shock to both myself and to our family. Jonathan was severely incapacitated which entailed not being able to walk or coordinate his movements which to a normally fit and active 27 year old was not only detremental to Jonathan physically but also mentally.
I was inspired by the way in which Jonathan demonstared a positive attitude towards his rehabiliation during this arduous time. This was enforced even more by the caring medical team and the breakthough in recent treatments, namely the drug Tysabri. Jonathan commenced Tysabri in March 2011 and todate has improved enormously. Without the finances to support this research, now and in the future, other people in a similar position may not be as fortunate.
This brings me to the reason why I am taking part in the Great Scottish Run 10 km on Sunday September 4th 2011. My aim is to raise moneys to ensure this research is ongoing and for the MS Society Scotland 'To enable everyone affected by MS to live life to their full potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.'
