Committed to Ending Abuse (CEA) was established in 1976 as Falkirk and District Women’s Aid. In the last forty five years our organisation has grown from strength to strength responding to changing social, political and economic climates and adapting our services to reflect changing needs.  Domestic Abuse as (Gender based abuse) can be perpetrated by partners and ex partners and can include  Physical abuse (assault and physical attack including a range of behaviours)  Sexual abuse (acts which degrade and humiliate women and are perpetrated against their will including rape)  Mental and emotional abuse ( such as threats, verbal abuse, racial abuse, withholding money and other types of controlling behaviour such as isolation from family and friends) Our new name reflects our aims and our vision to become gender neutral and more inclusive for everyone, including men. As a reflection of our good practice, CEA has been awarded with Safe Lives Leading Lights status, which is the mark of quality for domestic abuse services. CEA has also fostered links with various organisations such as AMIS (Abused Men in Scotland) that addresses the gap in service provision for abused men in Scotland. Our vision incorporates The Three-Stage Trauma Recovery Model developed by Dr Judith Herman (Herman, J 1992), promoting recovery from traumatic experiences.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm trying to help raise awareness and funds for Falkirk Women's Aid a local charity that I volunteer for.

So I'm cycling from Paris to Coventry approximately 400 miles in 4 days not an un-achievable goal I hear you say but when you look at  it realistically, I'm overweight and unfit, so this is a huge personal challenge for me. So any support you can give me and Women's Aid would be very much appreciated.

Have  a look at some of the services and advice they provide www.falkirkwomensaid.org

Thanks
Norman
