Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are going that extra mile for charity will you help us?

On the 1st June, 2013 husband and wife duo from Chichester, West Sussex, are braving a cycling expedition from Europe’s northernmost point, Norway’s North Cape, to it’s Southernmost point, the rock of Gibraltar in Spain.  Cycling over 4000 miles, Alan and Dana will be undertaking this epic challenge to raise funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester, a charity supporting those with terminal illnesses.

The determined couple will cycle through some of the great countries of continental Europe, across challenging landscapes and in all weathers. After flying with their bikes and luggage (three flights in all) to Honningsvåg, Norway, they will cycle to Nord Kapp to start the epic challenge. Cycling through twelve countries, they will leave 24 hours of daylight and the cold of the Arctic Circle behind them to finish in the blistering hot summer sun of Gibraltar on the Costa de la Luz  - a stones throw away from africa!

Dana says “We have been planning this expedition for a while and last year we cycled 1200 miles from Lands’ End to John O’Groat’s covering the whole length of Great Britain in preperation. On this expedition we will be carrying everything that we need to get through up-to two months of cycling and camping, from food and cooking gear to spare bicycle parts and maps. We’ll cover a staggering 4000 miles in just 50 days and we would love you to support us, please donate.

The North Cape to the Rock route information is as follows:

• Distance: Around 4000 miles (Lands’ End to John O’Groats x 4)
• Countries Covered: Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France, Italy, Monaco and Spain.
• Time Commitment: 50 Days
• Start Date: 1st June, 2013

The Chichester duo welcomes any support that you can give, whether you can donate the cost of a pint or a little more.

Please give what you can, and cheer Alan and Dana on! Find out more about this expedition and to follow their route visit www.northcape-rock.com

St. Wilfrid's Hospice in Chichester, West Sussex is an amazing charity to support.  Their services are provided free of charge, they’re not a part of the NHS and rely on public support to raise 86% of their annual running costs, which this year will exceed £5.8 million. I feel it’s an honour to raise funds for such a worthy cause and I do hope you’ll think so too and will help us reach to reach our target.

This is an epic challenge in aid of a wonderful community hospice and we welcome any support you can give. We’d love you to be part of our adventure.

Thank you

Dana
